Skincare Jail
Hey guys, I wanted to do something different around here and thought for a change we could share our not used products in a fun way! I’ll post some of mine and also if I’m using it in a different way so we can all inspire each other to finish up our stuff even if it does not work on our faces!
As a reminder I have sensitive, acne prone and oily skin. So here’s my skincare jail and why they are there:
VT Cosmetics - Reedle Shot Lifting Eye Cream: this sting badly on my first application and ever since I have been scared of using it again 🥲 it has a nice cooling sensation and the vibration mechanism is also super cool but unfortunately my under eyes couldn’t handle it that day.
VT Cosmetics - Reedle Shot 100: I almost finished this without knowing it was the reason I was having a lot of acne and barrier damage, I wanted to like it so badly that I insisted it but in the end my skin needed healing so I decided to stop it. I’m considering in using it on my body/stretching marks instead (haven’t researched if this is an okay thing to do it but I will).
Me+ - Retinol Boost: It was my first ever retinol, I hate the smell and the texture (100% oil) and I’ve used up half of it. I used to apply this intercalating days with the reedle shot above and yea the combo didn’t work well on my face 😂😂 I’ll definitely be finishing this bottle on my belly, I’ve used it before and had no reactions but did improve some stretching marks that was red, so it’s safe at least to me to keep using that way!
Beauty of Joseon - Glow Serum Propolis + Niacinamide: My skin doesn’t do well with too many niacinamide products however I found that this product didn’t do anything at all to my skin, no calming acne, no improvement on marks and scars .. the texture is nice and absorbs fast but the applicator is faulty and it bugged me every time I had to use it so I eventually just stopped, no benefits at all. Still deciding what to do with it.
Potion by Glow - Banana Milk Toner: got this one veeery cheap because the smell is just sooo good and like a real banana! Then I realised my skin is already f*up so I never actually used it on my face since I can’t tell what’s inside (there’s no ingredient list on the bottle and it didn’t came on a box either 🥲) probably another product I will use it on my body and smell like a banana all day hahaha didn’t think this one through, definitely an impulsive buy.
Purito - Azelaic Acid Serum: this seems a lovely product but I already have other two from Anua and Boots to finish up first (I got gifted the Purito one), since this also has tea tree and kojic acid and my skin is sensitive at the moment, thought of using this one later on after I’ve finished the other two and the skin is in a better place, so for now skin jail it is!

Love this thread idea! Here are the current convicts sitting in my Skincare Jail: 🚨 1. Purito Pure Vitamin C Serum (5% L-Ascorbic Acid) The Crime: Immediate neurovascular flushing and heat. Even at 5%, pure L-ascorbic acid needs a low, acidic pH that my reactive cheek capillaries simply view as a declaration of war. The Sentence: Repurposed for the backs of my hands and décolleté! The skin there is sturdier, gets daily UV exposure, and genuinely welcomes the antioxidant defense without throwing a lobster-red tantrum. 🚨 2. The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane The Crime: Sensory nightmare and barrier sabotage. 1% unencapsulated pure retinol is an absolute sledgehammer for thin, vascular-prone skin, and the oily squalane carrier sits like a heavy slick on my face. My skin much prefers a gentle 0.02% liposomal retinaldehyde. The Sentence: Hands and body duty. It’s working through its sentence smoothing out texture on my arms and elbows where the skin barrier can handle serious cell turnover. 🚨 3. Senka Perfect Whip (Collagen in) The Crime: Straight to solitary confinement. I fell for the viral Japanese drugstore hype on a trip to Japan—that whipped, dense micro-foam feels luxurious, but chemically it's a traditional saponified soap with an alkaline pH around 8.0–9.0. It strips stratum corneum lipids down to the bedrock and leaves thin skin squeaky, tight, and completely dehydrated. The Sentence: Permanent life sentence, no parole for my face! I’m gifting this directly to my sister who has oily, bulletproof skin. It cleanses deeply, but on reactive, thin skin it's an absolute barrier hazard.
Omgosh loved the new format 😂😂😂 will adopt it for the next time! I would love to use stuff on my hands but I have 3 hand creams I never remember to use it so it has to be either my body or my feet .. maybe some of my products can help with crusty feet? Retinoids and VT cosmetics… I guess my feet is about to have an upgrade on their routines 😂
