N2U Hylo Barrier Glow Mist Review

I recently submit my condensed review for the N2U Mist but I wanted to post a more in depth review as I wasn't sure if this would have been considered too long lol

N2U Hylo Barrier Glow Mist Review by Sora

The N2U Hylo Barrier Glow Mist is advertised as made for "Easily-Irritated Skin".
It is 80% collagen water, has 20 Amino Acids, and 3 Ceramides.
Trail Period: 3 Weeks*

*During these 3 Weeks there were a few days that I did not use the mist because I have extremely dry and sensitive skin. Even though this mist is advertised as safe for sensitive skin, I did not want to risk irritating my skin further. This is not to say that this product is not safe for sensitive skin, only that I did not try it when my skin was so irritated that all products and even sink water were too harsh and I could only use distilled water.

When writing this review, I compared the N2U Hylo Barrier Glow Mist to the other mists in my collection. I do want to recognize that every mist may advertise different purposes and benefits, so I used the following categories to review this mist and used the other mists that I’ve owned as part of the grading criteria:

Some of the other mists I own include:

AESTURA Atobarrier365 cream mist

d’Alba white truffle first spray serum

d’Alba white truffle vital spray serum

Mixsoon Bean Balancing Ampoule Mist

Medicube Kojic Acid Tumeric Vital Jelly Mist Serum

Medicube Hypochlorous Acid Power Soothing Spray

Magic Molecule Hypochlorus Acid Solution Antimicrobial Skin Spray

Skin Smart Antimicrobial Facial Cleanser

Product Grading Features:

Texture: light vs. heavy, sticky vs. smooth

Feeling: refreshing, cool, calming, hydrating

Effectiveness: does it do what it advertises?

Scent: is there a fragrance and if so, how strong is it?

Sensitivity: is it safe for nonsensitive skin versus is it safe for (my level of) sensitive skin?

Texture:

I like how lightweight this mist is. It does not feel heavy and does not leave my skin feeling like I just layered a thick film over it. It is thin and smooth with no tackiness or sticky residue. This is something I have sprayed on my face when it is bare (after cleansing it before applying any toner, serum, moisturizer) and something I have sprayed in various stages of skincare (in between the steps previously mentioned). It had the same consistent light texture regardless of when I sprayed it. I did not try to spray it after applying make-up, so I can’t speak to how it feels or looks when spraying it over make-up.

Feeling:

This mist is refreshing and offers a quick sense of hydration. I say ‘quick’ because it does not last long. Within minutes of spraying the mist, my skin no longer feels as if I had sprayed it. While writing this review, I sprayed it three times to better be able to write this review and it never felt like I over-applied it. In fact, it almost felt necessary. In this area, I would say it is lacking. It does not feel very calming, nor cooling, and while it is refreshing, part of that is probably due to its form of being a mist.

Effectiveness:

Listed as a barrier glow mist, I graded the efficiency as a skin-barrier improving product and as a glow mist. For the skin barrier aspect, I think it was neutral in that my skin barrier didn’t feel as if it improved, but it also did not feel like it was harmful or too intense for my skin barrier. I did notice a glow after spraying this mist so in this area it was effective. This mist is advertised as being safe for easily irritated skin and as I will discuss this further in the Sensitivity category, I wanted to mention this as something it accurately advertises as doing.

Scent:

This product contains a noticeable floral scent which I think is a pleasant fragrance but may be too strong for others. I am particularly sensitive to scents as they give me migraines, but my skin is not sensitive to the presence of fragrances. Those who have skin that may be reactive to fragrances may want to avoid this as I can’t say that it is safe. For what it is worth, the presence of the scent does not last long for those who are sensitive to the way something smells rather than how their skin may react to it.

Sensitivity:

The mist was safe for my easily irritated skin. Since this is something that the mist is labeled as being, I also gave this a point for its effectiveness. I do consider my skin to be sensitive: I am prone to redness, very dry, and can break out if I wear too much makeup too frequently or otherwise over-irritate my skin. I do want to acknowledge that sensitivity is a spectrum, and not everyone who is sensitive has the same threshold for what triggers their skin. I can’t say if it is safe for everyone, but it was safe for my skin. -

Would I (Re)Purchase?

Probably not, unless it was on sale and I already had my main mists (AESTURA and d'Alba and at least one anti-microbial) in stock. When it comes to the different areas of what this mist claims to do, there are other mists that I would be more likely to (re)purchase. For hydration, I would highly recommend the AESTURA Atobarrier365 Cream Mist. For an after makeup glow or a quick skin refresh, I recommend the d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum and the Mixsoon Bean Balancing Ampoule Mist. For days when my skin is sensitive and needs a refreshing spritz, I recommend the AESTURA Atobarrier365 Cream Mist and the d’Alba White Truffle Vital Spray Serum. I recommend the Medicube Hypochlorus Acid Daily Facial Serum, the Magic Molecule Hypochlorus Acid Solution Antimicrobial Skin Spray, and the SkinSmart Antimicrobial Facial Cleanser for a cleansing anti-bacterial mist.

The side with the product is the side I am pointing to, my left, your right.
The side without any product is my right, your left.
I wish I had taken more photos and that they had better lighting. This is my first product review and now I know how to improve for my next one :) Thank you for reading!
