This is interesting, @Annie Do you find you get visible results doing this? I recently seen 80year old japanese lady with really good skin doing this, other than she first used washcloth from the freezer first, to do a cool wrap, followed by warm one 🙂

What an interesting idea to use a cold washcloth from the freezer. This sounds great during the summer but I’d probably be too cold during the winter hahaha

Taking one's nice comfortable skin and making it take a polar plunge is a shock to the skin. Using lightly chilled tools in your daily routine can be helpful—as long as you do it right. Icing cannot permanently shrink your pores because pores don't have muscles. Cold just temporarily tightens the skin, making pores look smaller for a few minutes. Lightly cold rollers are excellent for draining fluid, waking up tired eyes, and calming down painful, red pimples. Putting raw ice directly on your face can freeze the skin, cause ice burns, and permanently pop the delicate tiny blood vessels around your nose and cheeks. ⛑️The Safe Way to Cool Daily Skin: Skip the freezer and use the fridge. Store your daily moisturizers, sheet masks, or jade rollers in the refrigerator. They will be perfectly chilled to depuff your face without shocking or damaging your skin barrier. Do not put anything cold to the skin after using certain devices like the Medicube Ultra Tune 40.68 and the Medicube High Focus Shot. The same for any in-clinic procedures using laser, RF or ultrasound. 🙅‍♀️ If you’re tempted to put an ice pack or a frozen roller on your face after a skin treatment to stop the burning, don't do it! Treatments like lasers and microneedling work by creating "controlled heat and inflammation" to force your skin to build fresh collagen. Extreme cold stops this process instantly, neutralizing the benefits you just paid for. 🥶Drastic temperature changes (going from laser heat to ice cold) causes thermal shock. This can panic your cells and cause Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), leaving dark stains on your skin. Ice shrinks your blood vessels tightly. This actually traps the laser heat inside your skin, which can worsen deep tissue burns and prolong your recovery time. 👉Stick to room-temperature or lightly chilled sheet masks packed with calming ingredients like Cica (Centella Asiatica), Panthenol, or Hyaluronic Acid to soothe the heat safely. 😄

There is a youtuber that posts her Korean Mother's (@ahneskitchen) routine is using a warm cloth then a cold cloth before she applies her products. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe in the future!

Oh, this brings me back to when I had a lovely Japanese esthetician named Mayumi. During a facial, she would take a warm, damp towel, roll it loosely, and lay it in a U shape over my face so my nose was free. I miss her! I stopped going after covid lockdown.
