Blush Obsession
I have a blush obsession at the moment! Resulting in too many blushes. Besides Hera, what blushes brand do you guys have tried and recommend for a cream blush that stays all day, doesn’t become patchy or break the base makeup.
Has anyone tried red chamber and recommend it? I saw that amazon review is only 4.0, but it’s on sale so I don’t know if I should give it a try?

I love this blush obsession—it totally brought back memories. About 15 years ago, I had a massive blush obsession too and ordered a ton of small jars of loose powder pigments from Neve Cosmetics (a vegan and eco-friendly Italian brand). Guess what? Many of them are still sealed like holy relics. I don't wear much makeup, and even back then I wore more than I do now, but I still ended up with a lifetime supply of blush! Despite that, I recently had to try liquid blushes because I love the idea of them packing skincare benefits—like this House of Hur Moist Ampoule Blusher in 07 Pink Rosie. Looking at the INCI, it’s heavily built on volatile silicones and emollients with just a touch of Alcohol Denat. to help it flash-dry, backed by hydration boosters like sodium hyaluronate and panthenol. Because of that formulation, I had to struggle for a bit to make it work: it's incredibly blendable, but you need literally a tiny drop. It really melts and absorbs right into the skin instead of just sitting on top like traditional makeup. Even taking just a tiny amount from the jar, it's basically infinite—I am never going to finish it! 😂
Oh that’s a pretty color! So I don’t do make up a lot before. 95% of the time my face is bare, but I had so much lips and blush I didn’t use. Of course they’re expired by now. Recently I’ve been putting on more foundation since iron oxide helps with darkening of hyperpigmentation and these anti blush is making me so obsessed and I don’t even know how to do make up Lolol.
HOH blush in the shade I need is always sold out at AP...or maybe I'm thinking of the lipstick... Hmm.
@BeauteAddict Do you follow Nikki LA Rose? She's one of the MUAs I enjoy. Sometimes they can be obnoxious or only do super glammed up looks. Friends, I work at a library. I can't look like I'm in an 80s glam band! She's just a lovely, calm person who works with clients who have mostly mature skin. Her tutorials are perfect for following along and she explains everything well. She also uses a range of drugstore and luxury brands, so there's great education and her products suggestions are accessible. Only caveat is that she has oily skin with zero sensitivity so once in a while I'll grab a products she uses for herself and it's not for my skin type. But she has fantastic recommendations for dry skin because of her clients.
@hazelmoss I haven’t, will search her up. Thank you.
I love liquid/cream blushes! I may have to try this brand!
I've been eyeing Red Chamber on YesStyle for some time. I'm also looking more at CanMake and JudyDoll. There are a few Chinese cosmetic brands that look awesome and have decent price points. GurlCult has amazing packaging and I splurged on their lipsticks this summer but they lean a little pricier like Red Chamber. I'm always on the lookout for affordable dupes to luxury western brands. Blush Caveat: I touch my face ALL THE TIME so blush really doesn't stand a chance. But these are my current loves and do a decent job at longevity: Free: - Rosacea: possibly throwing off the results by supplying a permanent color base. For years I only wore bronzer. Drugstore pricing: - Fwee - Lip&Cheek Blurry Pudding Pot: NDO3 Without + CR04 Seventeen - L'Oreal Paris True Match Hyaluron Tinted Balm Embellisher: Rose Lumiere - Milani Baked Blush: Ciao Bella, Sparling Rose - Milani Creme Blush: Coral Crush, Nude Kiss - Milani Rose Powder Blush: All shades - Morphe Cheek Thrills Multi-Finish Face Trio: After Party Premium pricing: - Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush: Float - Ilia Multi-Stick Cream Blush + Highlighter + Lip Tint: Lady Bird + Whisper - Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed - Matte Color for Cheek & Lip: Jubilee, Rose 'n' Brunch, Lowkey - Haus Labs Color Fuse Longwear Hydrating Glassy Lip + Cheek Blush Balm Stick: Glassy Hibiscus Luxury Formula w/o the Luxury Price Shout Out: Milani everything Workhorse Shout Out: "Glassy Hibicus" Haus Labs Color Fuse Innovative Texture Technology Shout Out: Gloassier Cloud Paint Blushes Fwee pudding pots Holy Grail Shout Out: "Jubilee" Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed by Danessa Myricks On the other hand, kill it with fire: - Rom&nd Juicy Roll Cheeks 🦞👃🏻 - Lys Cream Glow Blush sticks 🦞 - Glow Recipe Watermelon Niacinamide Dew Drop Serum 🦞👃🏻
Have you used all of these? I need to check these out. Looks like the premium brands are in Sephora. How do you think they compare to Hera or Korean blush in terms of quality or color?
@BeauteAddict I've only used Hera's pressed powder with the magnetic brush, and the setting spray, both of which I adore. I'm also eyeing that new compact. The shade range of their blushes is better for my skin tone than their lipsticks (though I'm a huge stan and wear them anyway). I keep putting the blushes in my AP orders and then taking them out again, because I do have a solid blush collection (the above are the top hits 😬). I also worry about powders close to my eye contour because the crepe effect in the last two years is more pronounced due to being on a GLP-1. I wish Hera had a cream blush, but the reviews seem positive for folks who, like me, also are careful with powders. What's interesting is that Fwee, Glossier, and DMB have very similar textures, that creamy mousse texture that feels good on the skin. Danessa Myricks' line is very KB forward in technology and ingredients. The blush makes me feel beautiful and they are all somehow universal tones. Rom@nd feels more similar to a Benefit blush stick I have...but also hate. It's too water and just disappears into my foundation. Seriously, I'm behind on more KB blushes because Rom@nd was my first experience and it was horrible! I would rather use Milani any day. It's just as easy to apply as Rom@nd but without the fragrance and irritation. It's that same creamy gel experience but it sticks. I'm better versed on eyeshadow. I'm a Clio stan. I do have their Soft Sheer Multi-Purpose palette and the cream blush is good when I remember to use it! The trouble is the popularity of the brand means it's hard to find the shades I want. I have the Mocha Mauve palette and it's perfect. Everything in it wears well. I use the darkest color for eyeliner and blend two other colors on my eyes. It's great for a 5 minute makeup routine. I just got their pro palette and now I want all of them.
@hazelmoss Hera does have cream blushes, they’re liquid cream. I got almost every shade so, but haven’t used them yet. Lolol. Recently I tried dead dahlia. The color are so cute, but not pigmented which I like becuase I suck at makeup and need something light even if I have a heavy hand. They’re on sale now on Amazon if you want to give them a try. I’ve tried some Freshian blushes. It’s creamy, and I think because of that the longevity may not be long. Another cream blush I’ve tried is lily by red. Those are pigmented, longevity is good as well. I’m so interested in about tone blushes now Becuase they’re supposedly a concealer blush that can cover up hyperpigmentation, which i desperately need. Wish I’ve known about them during the Amazon sale Becuase they’re supposedly were less than $10 last week. What is Hera pressed powder like? Is this the one with ceramides? Is it drying in the skin and help with blurring out pores? I need soemthing to filled in my pores but doesn’t create lines on my under eyes. Since I use cream blushes, highlighter goes on patchy.
@BeauteAddict Oh! I mistook them for lip glosses! 😂 With cream blushes, they really need to be locked in with a powder blush or at least a transparent setting powder for longevity. One trick I've seen for highlighter, though, is to put it on first under base makeup and then apply blush for a "lit from within" look. It could also be the formula. Essence has a beautiful illuminating quad that's an alt to Hourglass's luminizing powders. I haven't had any trouble with it being patchy. The Airy Powder Primer is blurring but I use it sparingly and not as a primer because it is oil absorbing and I need a hydrated base to start my foundation. I just apply it to my t-zone and along the cheeks were my glass frames sit to lock in foundation and creamy complexion formulas. It can be drying if you apply it on areas where you're already dry, especially eyes. It will also dull and flatten your makeup if you apply all over (that's true of all powders and not a complaint about Hera). For pore blurring, though, my absolute fave is SOME BY MI Spirulina Poreless Primer stick because it also smooths dry patches instead of highlighting them. My nostrils and the area around my brows are notorious for flaking -- I need to be better about doing exfoliating spot treatments. The stick controls oil but doesn't make me feel dry. It's not tacky like e.l.f.'s cooling primer stick, but more of a silky texture.
I’ve never heard of Red Chamber before! So it’s a Chinese brand! ❤️ I have dry skin, so cream blush lasts well on me since I barely produce any oil. But I asked my artist friend with oily skin, and she loves the ABOUT TONE Skin Layer Fit Blush in Cover Fit! I use it too, and my class clients love it! The pigmentation is pretty good, too. Try blending it out with a dry sponge. Once it’s almost dry, layer a powder blush on top. The two formulas really grip each other and make your blush last so much longer! ❤️
I saw some reviews about tone today! It supposed to conceal your hyperpigmentation too. Which powder blush do you recommend to go with about tone blush? Also, I apply 3an highlighter on top and the highlight because so patchy. How can I fix this? Do I need to apply setting powder before putting on highlighter?
