Pregnancy safe products
Hello everyone! My sister is pregnant and is wanting to get into Korean skincare. I know not all products are safe during pregnancy so it was awesome to be able to recommend CYOUNGS Hana am/pm moisturizer! I’m mailing her some today. My sister sent me pics of some Korean skincare products that she has and asked if I knew if any are safe or not safe while pregnant and I figured I’d ask here in case anyone knows. Thank you!

I have no experience in this area to share, but congratulations to your sister! Wishing her a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Thank you so much! 😊
Congratulations to your sister!🎊 also i, just as @hazelmoss, have no certainty about pregnancy safe ingredients 😅
Thank you for the warm wishes 😊
As someone who was ultra-cautious (paranoid?) during pregnancy: retinoids/retinal are the primary hard NO! Looking closely at the photo: Medicube Super Cica (Green Bottles): Safe & great. Cica, madecassoside, and panthenol are fantastic for soothing hormonal redness or irritation without risky actives. Aprilskin Calendula (Yellow) & Hera Foam (White): Safe gentle cleansers/masks. (Just note: pregnancy skin can be mechanically sensitive, so be gentle when peeling off the calendula pack!). Aprilskin Carrotene Line (Orange Bottles): Beta-Carotene is an antioxidant, not retinol, so the carrot complex itself is fine. However, clarifying lines often include BHA (Salicylic Acid). Wash-off cleansers have negligible contact, but leave-on serums with higher BHA are usually minimized during pregnancy. The Orange Tube laying down ("0.1%"): is that the Carrotene IPMP 0.1% Clearing Solution? so the 0.1% should be an antibacterial compound (IPMP), not retinol/retinal! However, it does contain 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) as an acne spot treatment. While a tiny dab on an angry pimple has negligible absorption, many doctors advise skipping leave-on 2% BHA while pregnant. When in doubt, have her run the exact ingredient lists by her OB-GYN or midwife! 🤍
Oh wow I REALLY appreciate the in depth reply here! I’ll be sure to share everything with her. Thank you SO much! MVP right here :)
🎉 Congratulations to your sister @Sora , I too have no experience about this.
Thank you Paul 😊
Congratulations to your sister @Sora 🎉 My sister also got into K-beauty while pregnant. Main thing is Retinoids in any form. While there are no studies confirming that it is harmful in topical form, I would definitely skip it to be cautious! Everything else is fine used in moderation 🙂 I would buy her few face sheet masks to have a little moments to relax as pregnancy can get stressful at times (disclaimer: speaking from my sister's experience, not my own lol)
That’s so sweet and kind! I mailed her some pregnancy safe skincare including CYOUNGS Hana moisturizer so I’m hoping that it helps her 😊
Avoid things that has retinoids the whole chain of it, retinol, retinal, HPR. No SA above 2%, no benzo peroxide, no alpha arbutin which can convert to hydroquinone in the body. Pretty much most brightening serums or cream from Korea has alpha arbutin. Im going to say avoid anything that has the word “shot” or “reedle” in the products becuase it can contain reedles/spicules and sometimes they call it silica on the ingredient list. She doesn’t want an immune response. When I was pregnant, my skin had a bad immune response to everything and I ended up with rashes all over my face several times during my pregnancy. It’s not fun since it last for weeks. A lot of people avoid chemical sunscreen, especially older generation because it can be absorbed into the body. I believe Hera sunscreen has some old generation UV filter and most mineral sunscreen in Korea has chemical UV. Look for Butyloctyl Salicylate which is Octisalate (Ethylhexyl Salicylate). The only one I’ve found that doesn’t have it, but double check the ingredient list is beauty or joseon body mineral sunscreen which I also use for the face Becuase it’s feels like a hydrating lotion. Honestly, I’d say keep it the most simple as possible. Vitamin C in the morning, simple moisturizer, mineral sunscreen. At night hydration moisturizer. That’s it. Congratulation in her pregnancy!!
So much wonderful insight advice here thank you so much! I really appreciate all of the info I’ll be sure to pass it along to my sister! Thank you again 😊
Wow, you are such an amazing sister! The comments from our CYoung fam are so warm and lovely too! 🥹 I took a look at the photos, and everything looks totally fine to use—basically, as long as she avoids retinol, she's good to go! Just keep in mind that pregnancy hormones make skin super dynamic, and multiple steps can feel overwhelming when you're tired. Applying 2–3 layers of the Hana Moisturizer alone is more than enough! Judging by her lineup, she seems to have oilier skin... And as her bump grows, don't forget to encourage her to keep up with illiyoon body lotion! Wishing her a safe and healthy pregnancy! ❤️
Thank you so much Unnie! Yes I love this group everyone is so nice and supportive. Yes she has oily/combo skin but she told me that so far in pregnancy she has been even oiler with some breakouts. I will send her some illiyoon body lotion as well. Thank you and everyone again for all of the safe and well wishes for her baby! I will keep everyone updated if that’s okay :)
