redness, itching, damaged skin barrier - help
I'm trying to figure out whether my skin barrier might be damaged.
Over the past few months, my skin has become increasingly red and itchy, especially on my cheeks and around my nose. My skin feels more sensitive than it used to, and the redness seems to linger rather than disappearing quickly.
My main symptoms are:
• Persistent redness on the cheeks and around the nose
• Frequent itching
• Increased sensitivity
• Visible pores and uneven texture around the nose and inner cheeks
• Occasional pimples and post-acne marks
I've attached close-up photos in natural lighting.
Do you think this looks like a compromised skin barrier, rosacea, irritation from skincare products, or something else?
If it does look like barrier damage, what ingredients or routine changes would you recommend? I'm especially interested in repairing the redness and itching before focusing on pores or texture.
Thank you!

First of all, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. ❤️ I know how frustrating this must be. It’s hard to tell from photos alone, but could you list your full AM and PM skincare routine? That will help me spot any possible triggers. Based on your symptoms—stinging, persistent redness, and itching—I do think there’s a good chance your skin barrier is compromised. For now, keep your routine simple. Use a moisturizer with ceramides + cholesterol + fatty acids, or panthenol. If you have CYoung Cream, start with that. Otherwise, try Aestura Atobarrier Lotion/Cream or La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. One last question: Have you started using any new skincare products recently? That could also be the cause. Hope it gets better soon!🥹
