I Feel So Smart ๐
If you've followed my skin log, you know that I cracked open the Laneige Cream Skin Cerapeptide Refiner 2 days ago when Aestura Capsule Toner ran out. You also know that I was struggling with it, it's too fluid and I found it awkward to put on.
Before you say this is weird because the Capsule Toner is totally liquid, the toner was in a trial size bottle and easy to just splash on my face from the bottle, whereas Laneige is in a full size, pretty heavy bottle, and without my glasses on, chances of giving myself a black eye with it are pretty good. With Aestura Hydro Essence, I just put it in my palm and slap on the face, but Laneige, being quite a bit thinner, just seems to run through my fingers.
Now, I'm the recovering queen of recycle, reuse, repurpose (because how many travel size bottles can one save because 'they may come in handy'), but just the other day, I finished Dr. Barbara Sturm's Sun Drops SPF 50, looked at the heavy glass dropper bottle and just couldn't bring myself to discard it. Figured I'd keep it for a few weeks, and maybe I'd find a way to repurpose/reuse it.
Lo and behold, as I looked at the big Laneige bottle this morning and wondered if I should risk giving myself a black eye or waste product through my fingers, my eyes drifted to the empty Barbara Strum dropper bottle. And just like that, two birds, one stone - the dropper bottle found a new use, and my Laneige application problem got solved! Using a dropper to apply it to face is SO... MUCH... BETTER. I felt like a genius all day ๐
I'm still not crazy about Laneige, and I'm pretty sure I won't be repurchasing it, but at least I'm not also struggling with application and hating it because of that.
(As for Dr. Barbara Strum Sun Drops, I didn't really like it. I mean, it's a high quality product, with the price to match, but it's just sunscreen, and you do need a separate moisturizer. I also didn't like how it felt on my face, so I ended up repurposing it for hands; it's quite pricey for hands, but hey, better than throwing it out, so, hands got an expensive treat for a few months, and I got a dropper bottle that solved my Laneige problem. Win-win).

Yay! Iโve never gotten badges before! Thank you!
@Bohogirl75 You are welcome.
This is so smart and I love how you and @hazelmoss in another post figured out ways to make a product better by changing the packaging/method of use. It makes me wonder if I should try this with any of my stuff ๐ค
Just wait till you hear what I have in mind for my CeraVe Sunscreen container once I use it up! Hear me out here: it's a pump bottle and the pump locks (which matters to me because I travel frequently and that prevents disasters). So right there, it's a win. But there is more! Pumps can be measured, meaning there's no guessing how much sunscreen I just put on. You see where I'm going with this? ๐ So yes, as soon as CeraVe is gone, it's getting cleaned and disinfected, and my Round Lab is going in it. I have a precision scale, so I will measure the pumps, and there will be no more guestimating in my mornings :D (with CeraVe, it's 25ml per pump, and I assume Round Lab will be the same, but I will still check, just to be on the safe side)
@Bohogirl75 I had to take a moment because this whole thing speaks to my ASD, Virgo, librarian heart. Precision scales. Consistent dosing. You get another badge for Science ๐งช
@Sora I have another post coming up soon! I learned about myself that I love the idea of products in jars but hate them in practice. Found a fix a can live with.
@hazelmoss ohhh tag me in it so that I donโt miss it! Love jars, hate dipping my fingers in them! And yes, science and precision, is there another way? (Also, not me Googling after your staycation post yesterday, because I was like, psoriasis what? Since when is psoriasis contagious? Itโs an autoimmune condition. Dandruff could be contagious if fungal, but not psoriasisโฆ I have half the mind to sue them on your and my bestieโs behalf!)
@Bohogirl75 As someone who naturally loves analytical precision and lab-level optimization, this speaks straight to my soul! ๐๐ฌ
I love repurposing bottles too! I'm using the Laneige Cream Skin Cerapeptide Refiner as a toner spray under make up and so far I love it. I also bring it along with me to spray on board flights.
Ohhhhhh. I do have spray bottles in stock ready to be repurposed/reused, and Iโve been looking into making my own face spray because I love me some DIY home lab stuff. Iโm so stealing this idea! Thank you!
