This balm does an amazing job melting off stubborn makeup and daily sunscreen! The texture is so soft, silky, and lightweight when massaging it in and once you rinse it, your skin feels super clean, fresh and looks visibly brighter without any greasy film left behind. My only real issues were the packaging and my eyes. It comes with a little spoon (which I appreciate for hygiene!) but having to unscrew the lid, take out that inner divider tray every single time and scoop it out felt pretty inconvenient compared to a quick pump cleansing oil. The bigger issue was that it stung my eyes quite a bit whenever I worked it around my eye area. If the packaging were simpler and the formula gentler on the eyes, it would be an absolute favorite, because the cleansing power and after-feel on the skin are honestly wonderful.

"Finger Frame" photo: the before photo detailing where I have rosacea and flushing. Pink puffy headband photos: A full face of makeup with a section of sheered-out balm, comparison of 1/2 cleansed face detailing effectiveness, and then the face after a full cleanse. First impressions: Azulene Cleansing Balm + Azulene Cica Repair Cream: I started the trial at night when I needed a deep cleansing. The cleansing balm and cream felt very pleasant on the skin. No irritation. The balm and cream have different scents and neither of them bothered my sensitive sinuses. The balm removed a full beat of makeup without breaking a sweat. I can’t normally double cleanse because my skin is so sensitive but I did a swab check with miscellar water afterward and the balm really did the job of taking off layers of (over-applied - ahem) cosmetics on its own in one go! There was even loose sebum drawn up from the pores that I was able to remove with a cotton pad, which I'd never experienced before with other oil-based cleansers. I was stunned to see that the skin between my eyebrows truly looked like glass. No pores or texture visible! The balm visibly brightened my skin and evened my tone. I noticed more pores were cleared and therefore reduced in size with use. For the first week, my skin didn't scream for hydration like it normally does after cleansing, nor did my skin feel like a furnace after application of cream. I also did not experience breakouts like I have with liquid oil cleansers. Mistakes: I was so impressed with the results of the first wash that I used the balm cleanser for AM and PM cleansing. At first this had fantastic results, but after a week it began to strip my skin barrier and the positive impact diminished and flushing increased. I had to reduce to just evenings and then eventually to just twice a week. My conclusion is that the balm is wonderful and effective for cleansing makeup and getting into the pores. It smells good without triggering sinus pain. And the balm is well-packaged with a generous amount of product. The balm may be too strong/stripping for every day use for my sensitive / rosacea / mature skin type. Normally skin irritation calms for me within a day or two when I used I’m From Mugwort products, Make Prem Safe Me Cleansing Milk, IUNIK Beta-Glucan Ampoule Cleanser, or La Roche-Pose Cicablast, but it took about a week for a feeling of "repair." I don’t think the repair cream is enough on its own to help with the stripping caused by daily use of the cleansing balm. I'd be interested to learn if there is - or will be - a serum included with this line to help with that. It seems like oils and oil balms need to be limited to once or twice a week for deep cleansing for my needs. I do recommend the Azulene balm as an effective product for other sensitive / rosacea folks. I believe it is a safe product with the caveat that this may not be an every day cleanser and they should adjust the frequency of use as a deep cleanse based on their skin's toleration level. I'm thankful to have had the chance to trial the product.

Love this balm. It melts instantly and easy to spread on skin. Emulsifies well too. I do not wear makeup so I don't know its effectiveness for that but I have oily-combo skin and it was great as a first cleanse.

I absolutely love this cleansing balm and it is probably the best cleanser I have used in years. The packaging is beautiful (clean and modern) and I love that it comes with a little spatula. A small amount goes a long way and, when mixed with water, it turns into a lovely light, watery cream that massages easily and rinses away completely with no oily residue. My skin feels clean without being tight and squeak. It also smells amazing, really fresh and sea-like - as though you are sitting next to the sea and breathing in the sea air. It reminds me of a L’Occitane limited addition range called Calanques, which I adored!! It removed my makeup completely without needing my usual MakeUp Eraser, and when I checked afterwards with micellar water there was nothing left. It’s hard to find a cleaner that does that without it leaving an oil slick behind. This is definitely a product I will buy again. The fact that it removes makeup easily and doesn’t dry my skin or leave an oily residue is enough to make it my go-to from now on. I just hope I can buy it in the UK!

It has a light, pleasant scent and its blue tint and practical white packaging are very aesthetic. Applying it is a wonderful sensory, almost spa-like experience, with a nice slip and a pleasant milkiness. I did however notice tingling sensation and some redness/irritation immediately after use (even though I had wiped the balm off thoroughly with a wet towel). I had to stop using the product when my skin broke out on the fourth day. (See my log) I was very disappointed because I really loved the product so much and would have loved to be able to continue using it!

It can remove my makeup, including bb cream, eye brow and lip gloss. I don’t use mascara so not sure if it works for mascara. In the picture, the amount of the cleansing balm is enough for my whole face with makeup.

This is honestly one of the better cleansing balms I’ve tried in terms of texture. It has a soft, silky balm texture that melts beautifully into an oil as you massage it into the skin. It feels smooth and luxurious without being overly greasy. Cleansing performance: It does exactly what I want a cleansing balm to do — it melts away my physical sunscreen within seconds, including the stubborn residue, without making my skin feel stripped or dry. After rinsing, my skin still feels soft and moisturised rather than tight. Emulsification: The balm transforms nicely from balm → oil and then emulsifies easily when water is added, making it easy to rinse off without leaving a heavy oily film behind. Scent & eye comfort: It has a light, subtle scent that I personally enjoy. It also doesn’t irritate my eyes, which is a big plus for me when using it around the eye area. Packaging: The only downside I’ve noticed is the included scoop. It seems to be quite loose and keeps falling off from the lid, which can be a little annoying when opening the container. Overall: A really enjoyable cleansing balm with a silky texture, excellent sunscreen-removing ability and a comfortable finish. Most importantly, it cleanses effectively without stripping my skin, which makes it something I’m happy to use regularly.
