Round Lab vs Beauty of Joseon Sunscreens - Sensory Stuff
So last week, I'm watching a random YouTube video in which a creator is doing that whole US vs Korea viral products. She gets to sunscreens, and compares Beauty of Joseon and Round Lab, saying that they are virtually identical and as a matter of fact, manufactured by the same manufacturing company (Kolmar). She then goes on to state that they are so similar in texture and how they go on/feel that people would not be able to guess which one is which in a blind test, all a while showing side by side hand 'test' of each. Now, not only does my autistic self SEE that they are different on her hands, just that morning, as soon as I started squeezing the sunscreen out on my first finger (I use the 2 finger method for appropriate amount), I knew something was off; looked at the tube, and sure enough, I had accidentally grabbed BoJ instead of Round Lab. And trust me when I say that I felt it all day, that it was BoJ and not Round Lab.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like BoJ and used it in Korea after procedures, and will use it as needed, but Round Lab feels fresh and like there's nothing on my skin, whereas BoJ feels thicker, heavier, stickier. Like, outside post-procedures, I can see myself using it when the temperatures drop into freezing territory, but while it's still transitional with some warm afternoons, Round Lab is it for me (and for hot hot summer days, VT PDRN Air Cloud Sunscreen, which I picked up because my friend said she liked the texture, that it felt like there was nothing there, and we were in 'buy everything' mode, so I got it too; she got BoJ and Round Lab because I got them 😅 No regrets).
I thought I'd get over this in time, but it's been days and I keep thinking about it. Like, is she comparing the US formulation BoJ to Korean Round Lab? Maybe the US formulation is different? Is she just exaggerating to make a point that both are good, and just get whatever is more accessible? Am I crazy/overly sensitive? I mean, I do have sensory issues, but this is beyond it - they are just different and there's no way that somebody would mistake them in a blind test. Or is there?
For those of you who have tried both, are you team interchangeable or team distinctly different?

Oh, and because they are so similar (to her), she said to get whichever one is easier to get, or whichever one is cheaper, and because BoJ is about 30% cheaper than Round Lab, it won the face off (but she uses Round Lab more often because she worked with the brand blah blah). And there, too, I was like, no, I wouldn't get BoJ because it's that much cheaper, I'd still get Round Lab because they... are... not... the... same!
