Woke up with "pillow face"? Let’s drain it. ✨
If you ever wake up looking super puffy under the eyes, or your jawline feels MIA after a salty late-night snack, it’s not just you. It’s stagnant lymph fluid.
Your lymphatic system is basically your body’s built-in trash chute, but here is the catch: it doesn’t have a pump. It completely relies on you moving, breathing, and massaging it to get things flowing.
If you're just rubbing random tools over your skin without a plan, you're missing out. Here is the literal golden rule: you have to open the main "drains" at your collarbones first, or the fluid from your face has nowhere to go.
Grab some facial oil for slip, grab your tool of choice, and let’s do a quick AM routine.
Choose your tool:
- The Gua Sha: Keep it flat against your skin (about a 15-degree angle)—never dig the sharp edge straight in.
- Refrigerated Spoons: Keep a couple of regular spoons in the fridge (not the freezer—ice is too harsh for delicate lymph vessels). Use the curved back of the spoon to glide over your skin for an instant, soothing chill.
The 4-Step Morning Sculpt Routine:
1️⃣ Unclog the Drain: Take the pads of your fingers and gently pump the hollow spaces right above your collarbones 10 times.
2️⃣ Snatch the Jawline: Using your Gua Sha or the back of a chilled spoon, use feather-light pressure to sweep from the center of your chin outward and upward toward your earlobe.
3️⃣ Bye-Bye Eye Bags: Use the rounded back of your chilled spoon (or the small curve of your Gua Sha). Start at the inner corners of your under-eyes and trace a slow, gentle semicircle along the bone out to your temples.
4️⃣ The Final Flush: Take your tool from your temples, glide it down the sides of your neck, and dump everything right into that collarbone drain.
⚠️ CRITICAL PRO-TIP: Stop pressing so hard! Lymph vessels sit right under the surface of the skin. If your face is turning bright red, you are crushing the vessels instead of draining them. Think feather-light strokes.
Save this for tomorrow morning when the AM puff hits! 🌊

Thank you for the reminder! My Gua Sha sits abandoned in the drawer (next to the jade and pink quartz rollers, which should be in the fridge anyway but haven't been used in ages). I will give this a go tomorrow morning. Also, I love the gua sha you have in the picture, mostly because of the copper - copper is antibacterial, so there's that added benefit!
@Bohogirl75 It’s really great! I have a few different ones(jade and rose quartz) but this one claims the #1 spot!
This is a great topic/post. It’s so important to remember how steps like Gua Sha and lymphatic drainage can help. One of my friends is a licensed massage therapist and she gave me a back/shoulder massage and I felt so much better! I have fibromyalgia so pain meds don’t work on me. Massaging the body/neck/face is a great way to improve not just how we look, but how we feel
Thank you so much for this breakdown! I really need to remember the "feather-light" rule—I definitely would have been guilty of pressing way too hard. This is the sign I needed to finally buy a gua sha and start a morning routine. Saving this for later! 🌊✨
