No ethanol, menthol, oils or synthetic fragrance. Apply directly to the scalp, massage gently and leave it on. A leave-on scalp serum for people whose scalp itches because it is dry. Shampoo is rinsed off in about 60 seconds. A dry, tight scalp needs care that stays on — the way you would never treat dry facial skin with cleanser alone. This serum is applied directly to the scalp and left on, morning and night. The first ingredient is not water but changpo root water. Changpo (Acorus gramineus, sweet flag) is the root Koreans have used to wash their hair every Dano festival for centuries. Changpo-derived content makes up 51.8% of the formula (520,415 ppm), supported by houttuynia cordata, green tea and perilla leaf. In a human application test (CBRC-H-260429-44, Cutis Biomedical Research Center, Seoul) with 22 adult women using the product twice daily for 2 weeks, scalp redness decreased 84.2%, scalp flaking 77.9% and itching 54.9%, with skin hydration up 48.3% (p<0.05). All 22 participants improved on redness, flaking and itching. Human patch test result: 0.03, non-irritating. Individual results vary. Formulated without alcohol, menthol, synthetic fragrance or synthetic colorant, so it can be used every day on a sensitive scalp. It dries clean without residue and does not weigh hair down. MOGAM
K-Derma Scalp Care
Dongui MOGAM is a Korean scalp skincare brand singularly focused on 'scalp itchiness'. The brand name is derived from 『Donguibogam』, a medical text from Korea's Joseon Dynasty. In Korea, there's a long-standing tradition of washing hair with boiled Acorus calamus water on Dano Day to clarify the scalp. We've brought this tradition back into modern scalp care. Our signature product, Changpo Scalp Serum, features Acorus Calamus Rhizome Water as its primary ingredient, not purified water. It contains Acorus Calamus, Houttuynia Cordata, Green Tea, and Centella Asiatica to collectively manage itchiness, redness, and flakiness. Our products are developed with the consultation of a Korean medicine specialist in ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and dermatology. In a third-party human application test (22 adult women, 2 weeks), we confirmed improvements in scalp soothing (redness) by 84.2%, flakiness by 77.9%, and itchiness by 54.9%. All 22 participants showed improvements in soothing, flakiness, and itchiness. A patch test on 32 individuals with sensitive skin resulted in a low irritation index of 0.03, classifying it as hypoallergenic. Its transparent, water-type formula, free from alcohol, menthol, and synthetic fragrances, ensures daily use won't burden the scalp. We believe the scalp should be cared for just like facial skin. We are developing a routine that spans washing (shampoo), post-wash (serum), and moments of itchiness (ampoule). Our customers include those experiencing itchiness due to seborrheic scalp, post-dye irritation, or lifestyle habits that keep the scalp covered for extended periods, such as wearing hijabs or braids. Within five months of its launch in Korea, over 1,100 reviews have accumulated, and now we aim to share the same experience with itchy scalps worldwide.

[Background of tester] Condition of scalp before testing: 30s, female, dry scalp, no dandruff, no acne, no constant irritation. Prone to sweat and grease due to environment. I wash my hair every evening without fail. Environment of testing: tropical, humid weather. Dry in late evenings in air-conditioned room. Also tested while on holiday in tropical, humid weather with air pollution. Period of testing: more than two weeks. [Review] Design and ergonomics-- I have been reaching out for the product and spraying on my scalp often because of how the bottle is designed -- the pump has just the right amount of resistance for pressing, not too stiff or loose. The product that comes out of the nozzle is evenly diffused, fine mist, wide and even spray pattern, generally very well dispersed. I also like the design of the stopper - it blocks the pump and also covers the nozzle, making it perfectly safe for me to bring on my travels. For a scalp product, I think the functionality of the bottle and dispensing performance is just as important as the serum/ tonic. Application and results -- Steps: I tested this product consistently over more than two weeks, after shampooing my hair in the evenings, and after wrapping my hair for approximately 10 minutes to dry. I part my hair into sections, spray, and massage product into scalp. I also apply it after breakfast in the mornings. I skipped application on two days, once at home, and another while on vacation, to observe if there is any difference. I also applied this product after dye-ing my hair roots and while on vacation. Scent: The scent was barely noticeable initially. After the first week or so, I begun to notice the scent a little more. I appreciate the scent of ginseng in products. It puts me into a relaxed state. The scent does not linger for longer than a couple of seconds. Results: On a regular day at home, I do not feel any residue on my scalp after application, the morning after application, or in the evenings before my shower. Feels nice and clean when I run my fingers through my scalp. I applied it after dyeing my hair roots and it helped my scalp feel less irritated. I applied it before boarding a red-eyed flight, and my scalp felt comfortable, neither tight nor dry. After disembarking the plane, I was out the entire day in the hot and humid weather, with air pollution in the city. By the evening before my shower, I ran my fingers through my scalp, and I was pleasantly surprised that my scalp did not feel greasy at all, just noticeable sweat from the heat. I took a photo of my scalp and it looked healthy, calm, not irritated. (Photo of me with hair tied up, in navy blue dress, IMG_1173.jpg) While on vacation, I skipped application on one day and I observed slight itch on my scalp. I took a photo of my scalp and it looked slightly inflamed. (Photo of me in black and white print dress, IMG_1509.jpg) Overall, I am convinced of the efficacy of the product and its claims to help with scalp itchiness, post-dye irritation. I did not expect to like the product so much. My scalp always felt comfortable after using it. I love the ginseng scent and the design of the bottle. I think the body of the bottle can be improved to be a little harder. This is a product I will be happy to purchase with my own money. It will be great to see this in 50ml size bottle to bring along for travels.

This product is great! The same day I received it, I tested it for allergies behind my ear and on my arm. I had no reactions. Then I started using it on my scalp. My hair and scalp are extremely dry, and the product helped make them more moisturized and soft. My scalp doesn't itch much while using the product, and when it does itch, I spray a bit and lightly press it with my fingers instead of scratching. I recommend this product to people with the same issue — dry scalp and hair. It's not greasy, so it won't make your hair greasy. I don't wash my hair every day; I wait at least 5 days, and I even pushed it to a week with no problems while using this product. The consistency: the product is very watery and really easy to apply. I spray either directly onto the scalp or onto my hands. I have a lot of hair, so I have to spray really close so the product gets in. The smell: it doesn't have a fragrance, just the smell of plants — probably the root it's made from — giving it a nice, delicate scent of fresh herbal tea that's almost not there. The application: it's easy to use — the spray bottle makes it really simple. Just be careful when you apply it to the scalp area close to the forehead, as it might run a little into your eyes. I don't know if it would cause irritation, but I just keep my fingers there and instantly spread it through the area. Or just apply it with your hands. To me, this product deserves 5 stars.

My scalp is normally very flaky with tiny flakes all over, and most hair products I’ve tried haven't fixed it! So far, only one or two shampoos have actually worked. I also have fine, curly hair, and my scalp gets easily oily and itchy because of the flaking, so I had really high expectations for this product! It definitely helped reduce the flakiness, although it hasn’t completely removed it yet. After two weeks of use, you can certainly see improvements, even if they aren't final results yet and I’m still really satisfied with it! I also noticed that before the flakes started decreasing, they actually got a bit larger rather than staying tiny like usual. I’ve tested many scalp treatments before, and they often leave my hair too greasy because of a heavy gel texture, or they burn my scalp due to alcohol in the formula. This one is amazing: it doesn’t burn, it's super easy to apply, and it has a very light, pleasant herbal scent. Applying it twice a day was effortless and didn't mess up my hair texture too much, I would say it leaves very little residue behind which is actually very impressive. With other products, I'd only apply them on wash days because I knew my hair would look awkward afterward! I really like the applicator too. It targets the scalp directly with good pressure, and the product doesn't harden or get stuck in the nozzle like Minoxidil or other treatments tend to do. The bottle is still completely clean and works like new. In two weeks, I’ve used about half the bottle, so I reckon the whole thing will last around 4–5 weeks total. I can’t wait to finish it and see even better results. I’d definitely repurchase it if the price is right, mostly because I love that it’s alcohol-free (unlike most products that make my scalp burn) and leaves zero sticky or greasy residue. This is actually the first scalp treatment I’ve ever stick with long enough to almost finish!

I’m REALLY impressed with this product! From the quality to the overall experience, it’s such a lovely addition to my hair care routine. I love that it focuses on scalp health, especially for anyone who struggles with a dry, itchy or flaky scalp. The formula contains ingredients such as Changpo (Acorus Calamus) Root Extract, Centella Asiatica and Green Tea Extract, which makes it an interesting and thoughtful approach to scalp care. The leave-in formula is particularly appealing because it makes scalp care easy and convenient without adding an extra step to wash day. I also really like the brand’s focus on combining traditional Korean herbal ingredients with modern scalp care. It feels like a product that has been developed with a clear purpose rather than just being another hair care product on the market. Overall, I’m really happy to have discovered this brand and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to give their scalp a little extra care and attention. A great product from a brand with a unique approach to scalp health! 💚 I have a person who tried it aswell and it does definitely work for them too and they said it was “very cooling” it does the job as you apply it and helps calm the itchiness on first application. I had an itchy scalp once and I applied this and it definitely stoped it. One give away is it does have a wierd scent and can make your hair smell abit.

Participant Environment: - Tap water: HARD at 30-35 GPG / 513-599 PPM. - Filtration: We utilize a water softener and a shower head filter. - Current scalp products: Shampoo and conditioner for treating hair fall, clarifying shampoo, leave-in moisturizer, bond repair cream and oil, curl gel or heat/styling sprays, dry shampoos. Participant Profile: - Age range 40-45 years - Sex: Female - Hair Type: Fine, sparse, curly/wavy, color-treated Scalp condition: - Diagnosed with plaque psoriasis in 2015, left mostly untreated until 2023. - Began injectable treatment in 2023, but switched to a new oral medication in July, so my scalp is currently experiencing a transition. - Due to hard water and extremely sensitive skin, I can only shower 2x per week or risk barrier damage. Concerns & Symptoms: - tender scalp, dry and tight skin after showers, plaques, intermittent folliculitis or acne, sores and scabs from picking - Redness and inflammation, visible flaking and trapped scales in hair, oil buildup, hair fall - Inability to wash hair more frequently leaves hair product residue building up on my scalp, making it very itchy, oily, and generally feeling grimy. This exacerbates plaque development. Trialing: - Trial period: 2 weeks - Used consistently 2x per day, as part of AM & PM skincare routine. Did not use mid day. - Treatment Area: Whole scalp, particularly crown, sides, and the back hairline where psoriasis leaves thicker plaques. Observation: a late afternoon refresh is definitely beneficial for folks like me who have serious scalp conditions like psoriasis. Product + Use Impressions: - The instructions were precise, clear, and answered all of my questions -- no assumed knowledge leaving me hanging! - Marketing materials gave the impression of a gentle, soothing, natural product and frankly the serum met those expectations raised by the marketing. - The flexibility to use the serum on wet and dry hair made following a daily routine possible. - Easy, no fuss application -- didn’t delay me in the morning at all when I am jogging to get out the door. - Effective and light serum, not oily or heavy - Finger free application -- I could use the palms of my hands to gently press the serum into my scalp, which is more sensory friendly for me than getting my fingers covered in product to massage in the serum. - Trace amounts of herbaceous scent, pleasant and of short duration -- non-irritating - Functional packaging and pump -- easy to use, even distribution, no frustration, excellent misting strength and droplet size. - I prefer the plastic collar clip on the pump to a cap to prevent accidental sprays. Caps always go missing on me or fall off during travel, so I like the company’s chosen prevention packaging. Comments: How did it feel? How did your skin respond over the days you used it? - Sensitive skin approved! - Psoriasis skin approved! - Scent sensitivity approved! - Colored hair approved! Review: After the serum is administered and dries down, it’s an effective worker bee in the background. I didn’t notice the serum application (no residue, tackiness, lingering scent, etc.) but I did notice the effects on my scalp -- which is exactly the kind of scalp product you want. I’m used to it working the other way around. The serum is very evident, but the effects…not so much. The serum feels immediately soothing and provided a noticeable drop in flakes and plaques within the first two days of treatment. Performance remained consistent so I did not feel like I needed to trial for the full 3 weeks available. (It's definitely still in my routine though! It's been a great addition.) The serum left my hair in good condition for styling after application. It increased the comfort of my scalp 10 fold between wash days, which meant less picking, scratching, and general damage to my scalp, which can be seen in the "before" photos. The product prevented embarrassing flaking. Reduced acne / folliculitis significantly. My scalp felt renewed and clean after use, even on day 3 between washes. The serum interacted perfectly with my hair products and didn’t damage my color treated hair. Morning application lasts almost the entire work day -- no embarrassing scratching during meetings. I definitely needed a refresh before my commute, though. No intense tingling or menthol bombs! Little noticeable change at this time: Scalp/follicle sensitivity to combing or pulling hair back. I'll be interested to see if this improves with longer use since the serum is so effective at calming inflammation. Photos: 1. Product in use PM use. 2 -3. After photos Clear, calm scalp, no visible flakes 4-6. Before use photos Red inflammation, scalp damage, visible flakes.

Changpo Root Ritual Scalp Serum is easily the best itch relief serum I've tried. Often with these products, you'll have one thing to help and another to harm, so it's a viscous cycle of calm and aggravation. But this has no essential oils or fragrance, no alcohol, and a variety of scalp soothing ingredients, not just one. I recently shaved off all my hair because I was in so much discomfort and I thought I thought I should treat my scalp as I do my face. Except I didn't exactly have scalp specific products to use. Luckily, I got sent this and felt immediate relief from the first use. I've been extolling it's virtues to my husband. I can't feel my scalp! It's usually tight and hot and itchy, now I go hours not aware of it all all. All that noise is gone. Amazing. I only needed to use it twice a day as instructed, instead of having it on hand to use over and over all day as has been the case with some things I've tried. My hair is really short but it would be convenient to use even with a lot of hair. It dries within two or three minutes and brings immediate calm after application. My scalp tightness, redness and itchiness reduced day by day and my scalp also no longer feels sore since I'm not compelled to scratch. Fantastic results 👏 👏 👌 I love it. I really wish this brand was widely available. Shampoo, conditioner, everything. I've needed this for decades while managing my scalp issues with products not designed for what they're meant to help with. This is amazing. No notes.

This is honestly the very first scalp serum I’ve ever tried consistently! What immediately pulled me in was the brand’s core philosophy: treating the skin on your scalp with the same intentional care and hydration you give your face. Especially now, as the temperatures are dropping and indoor heating makes the air so much drier, focusing on the scalp barrier makes complete sense. My Profile & Context: To be completely transparent, I don’t personally suffer from severe chronic itching, redness, or excessive flaking. Because I didn't start with a compromised scalp, I can’t speak to dramatic clinical turnaround or overnight repair. However, testing it purely from a preventive and comfort standpoint on sensitive skin has been a genuinely positive experience. What Really Stood Out: Zero Residue & No Buildup: This was my biggest worry with fine hair. It behaves like a light, aqueous essence—it completely absorbs within seconds without leaving a greasy film or sticky roots. Even when I go 3 to 4 days between washes, it causes zero heavy buildup or limpness. Sensory Experience: Applying it feels like spritzing a fresh, therapeutic herbal water. It has a lovely, subtle scent that reminds me a bit of fermented tea/kombucha—very botanical and refreshing without being synthetic or overpowering. Sensitive-Skin Friendly: I had zero adverse reactions, stinging, or rebound oiliness. My scalp simply felt balanced and comfortable against the dry autumn chill. Smart Applicator: The nozzle design makes targeted application right along the parts effortless, avoiding product waste on the hair fibers. Final Thoughts & Brand Wishlist: Overall, a very solid, elegant formulation. While it served as a great preventive hydrator for me, I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone dealing with stubborn tightness, seasonal dryness, or persistent itchiness. I’d actually love to see MOGAM expand on this Changpo root water base in the future—offering tailored variations targeting different scalp needs, like barrier repair for micro-abrasions, varied hydration levels, or even targeted follicular stimulation. It’s a fantastic star ingredient, and they clearly know how to formulate a clean, water-light vehicle!
